Geoff graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987 with a degree in chemical engineering. Geoff also played varsity football at Penn. After graduation, he worked for Westvaco Corporation in a technical sales position. Geoff then served as a volunteer in the United States Peace Corps in Gabon, Africa for two years.

After his Peace Corps service, Geoff earned his law degree from the University of Wisconsin. Geoff was named Outstanding Member of the Graduating Class of 1996. He also served as research assistant to one of his professors and as a law clerk extern for a judge on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Geoff also has extensive trial experience throughout the United States. He has successfully obtained a $2.1 million jury verdict in a patent infringement case. This was the precise amount that Geoff asked the jury to award. He also persuaded a federal district court judge to preliminarily enjoin a patent infringer from the bench. In addition to his commercial litigation practice, Geoff has also been very effective in assisting property owners to oppose and stop large scale commercial developments that would negatively impact their property values and the environment. To date, Geoff has successfully stalled projects worth over $400 million. Additionally, Geoff has an active federal civil rights practice.

Geoff and his wife Amy have two children, Eliana, age 6, and Simon, age 3. Geoff is committed to his community, serving as a Commissioner on the Oak Park Energy & Environment Commission. He also teaches sixth grade catechism at St. Catherine of Siena and St. Lucy parish and is the President of the Board of The Children's School of Oak Park.
