n PROFILE
In
2001, Brian graduated from Colorado College with a bachelor’s degree in
chemistry where his undergraduate research focused on using gas
chromatography mass spectrometry to perform multivariate analysis of the
monoterpene content of conifers.
Brian
graduated from Purdue University in 2006 with a doctorate in chemistry. He
worked in professor Garth Simpson’s laboratory where his thesis research
focused on using an atomic force microscope to perform nanoscale
dielectrophoretic spectroscopy of erythrocytes in solution. This research
led to publications in the journals: Langmuir, Analytical Chemistry,
Biophysical Journal, American Laboratory, and the Journal of Vacuum Science
& Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures. Additionally,
several research presentations were made at national chemistry conferences.
In
addition to his bachelor’s and doctorate work, Brian’s research experience
includes investigations into the social structure of the naked mole rat and
working at a biotech start-up company developing immunoassays for label-free
interferometric detection.
Brian was born
